Reporting a layout issue now sends you a confirmation
Report an issue and you get an email straight away confirming what you sent, with a link to reopen that exact layout — and we reply in the same thread once we know more. The report also saves a picture of the map as you saw it, alongside the layout itself, so a problem with how something is drawn can be diagnosed from what was actually on your screen.
Hand-build a layout — clear, add, and arrange equipment yourself
Lock the sections you want to keep, then Clear unlocked to empty the rest of the site while the roads stay put. Add BESS sections and the E-house from the + menu and drag, rotate, lock, or remove each one — the layout holds still as you arrange it, and Re-optimize hands the free space back to the solver. Every hand-placed unit keeps the fire-safety spacing automatically.
Rotate 90° button and enforced spacing when placing equipment
A selected or locked BESS section now has a Rotate 90° button alongside the fine rotation slider — one tap for square turns on any device. Dragging a section next to another one now holds the fire-safety distance between them: a drop that lands too close settles to the nearest spot that keeps the gap, the same way a drop onto a road or the fence does.
New Quad Split section + correct 2-hour PCS sizing
A PCS & MV skid serves a fixed power, so DC blocks per skid scale with duration: a 40 ft skid pairs with 2 DC blocks at 2h and 4 at 4h. New Quad Split section: a 2×2 of four DC blocks with a skid above and below, each feeding one row's two blocks — so a 2×2 footprint is available at 2 hours with correctly sized PCS (40 ft skids at 2h, 20 ft at 4h). The original single-skid Quad (four blocks on one skid) remains a 4-hour section.
Example layouts, 10–400 MW
Six reference pages at /layouts, one per project size, each showing real solver layouts at 2-hour and 4-hour duration with the land area, DC block, PCS & MV skid, and E-house figures they imply. Every image is unmodified output from the same engine behind the tool.
Free BESS calculators
Three no-signup calculators at /calculators: land area (calibrated against real solver layouts, in acres, hectares, and m²), equipment counts (DC blocks, PCS & MV skids, E-house), and MW ↔ MWh conversion. Same catalog and rules as the layout tool.
Move & lock equipment
Tap a DC block or PCS & MV skid to select its BESS section, drag the group anywhere, rotate it freely, and lock it — the solver re-packs the rest of the site around your locked equipment on every Regenerate, keeping the surrounding rows in place. Equipment stays exactly where you drop it; a drop onto a road or outside the fence settles back to the nearest valid spot.
Drive-through roads
New road layout option: a single access road running gate to gate through the site, with equipment packed on both sides. Pick it in the Roads card alongside the ring road and no-road layouts.
One-tap site detail presets
The site details panel now uses preset chips for road width and spacing instead of raw number inputs, with custom values one tap away. The DC block, PCS & MV skid, and BESS section pickers were reworked to match.
Report a layout
A Report issue button on the results sheet: describe what looks wrong and the full layout is attached automatically. Available on every plan, no sign-in required — reported layouts feed directly into solver improvements.
Named manufacturer equipment (Pro)
Jinko ESS SunTera DC blocks and NR Electric PCS-9567MV skids are now selectable in the equipment pickers on the Pro plan, alongside the generic models. The docs gained a supported-equipment page with layout-relevant specs.
Documentation
Public docs are live: how the layout model works — DC block configurations, BESS sections, roads, gates, access, and spacing rules. The same rules the solver enforces, written down.
Perimeter fence and gate entrances
Layouts now include the perimeter fence, gates placed on the true boundary, and a paved entrance at each gate connecting into the internal road network.
Road layout options
Choose the road layout for the site: a ring road around the field, or no interior roads for compact sites served from the perimeter.
Movable E-house
Drag and rotate the E-house anywhere on the site — the layout re-solves around the pinned position. Placement presets: Auto, Near POI, Centered.
Boundary editing on mobile
Boundary vertices can be dragged by touch, so drawing and adjusting a site works fully on a phone.
Odd-shaped parcels
The solver packs irregular polygon boundaries, not just rectangles. Draw any parcel shape and the layout follows the fence line.
June 2026
Beta launch
SiteLayout.ai opened in beta at www.sitelayout.ai: accounts and Pro subscriptions at founding-member pricing, with the full search, draw, solve, and tune flow — the auto-layout solver, configure & regenerate, PNG & PDF export, and save & reopen layouts.
